Echocardiography
Assam's Premier Multi Superspeciality Hospital
About Echocardiography
Ultrasound of the heart to assess its pumping function, valves and structure.
Echocardiography (ECHO) uses ultrasound to create moving images of the heart. It shows how well the heart muscle is pumping, how the valves are working, and whether there are any holes, clots or fluid around the heart.
The test is painless, takes about 20 to 30 minutes and uses no radiation, so it can be safely repeated to monitor heart conditions over time.
When is it advised?
